SPIRIT LAKE TRIBE LICENSE PLATE

In 1996 the tribe completed a long sought name and cultural reclamation to officially use "Mini Wakan Oyate" (People of the Spirit Water).

In 1999 the transition from the old "Devils Lake Sioux" vehicle registration nomenclature to Spirit Lake-specific identifiers and plates took effect!

This is an excellent example of that plate with the rider on horseback featured at the lower left.  It has to be the most colorful and attractive license plate in North Dakota!
